6.54 Kg Gold, ₹41.04 Lakh Recovered in Maharashtra After Chadchan SBI Heist

Police say coordinated cross-border searches are closing in on the suspects.

  • Investigators found a bag on the terrace of a dilapidated building in Hulajanti, Solapur district, containing 6.54 kg of gold and ₹41.04 lakh, according to SP Laxman Nimbargi.
  • Within 90 minutes of the September 16 robbery, police traced the getaway car to Hulajanti and recovered 21 packets of gold ornaments and ₹1.03 lakh from the abandoned vehicle.
  • Preliminary findings show the car was stolen from Mangalwede and fitted with a fake number plate before the suspects fled toward Maharashtra.
  • Police say the robbers crashed, clashed with villagers, threatened them with weapons, and fled on foot, leaving part of the loot behind.
  • Eight teams from Vijayapura, working with Solapur police, cordoned the area, conducted surveillance and vehicle checks, and seized the stolen car as arrests remain pending and most of the haul is still missing.
