600 Sheep Cross Central Nuremberg in Annual November Drive

  • On Sunday, roughly 600 animals were driven through the city by shepherd Thomas Gacksatter.
  • The herd moved from summer pastures in the east and south to winter meadows west of Nuremberg, passing Wöhrder Wiese, Insel Schütt and the Hauptmarkt.
  • Employees of the municipal environmental office accompanied the drive to manage the route and public safety.
  • Spectators were asked in advance to keep paths clear, leash dogs and refrain from using drones.
  • City officials reiterated that sheep grazing within urban areas is to be preserved and protected as part of the ecological program.
