60 Anti-Israel Protesters Arrested in U.S. Capitol Rotunda

Activist Linda Sarsour leads demonstration calling for Israel-Hamas ceasefire amid Senate negotiations over aid package

Approximately 60 anti-Israel protesters were arrested in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, after staging an illegal demonstration calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.
The protest was led by activist Linda Sarsour and included participants from over 80 progressive groups.
Protesters entered the Capitol as part of a tour group before beginning their demonstration, which included chants and signs such as 'Stop Arming Israel' and 'The people choose life. Ceasefire now!'.
The U.S. Capitol Police were aware of the group's potential plan and had prepared additional officers for the event.
The demonstration comes amid Senate negotiations over President Biden's proposed aid package to Israel and additional immigration enforcement at the southern border in exchange for Ukraine aid.
