• The Servicio Sismológico Nacional initially reported the quake as magnitude 5.6 at 11:58 a.m. before adjusting it to 5.9 following technical review.
• Seismic waves originated 13 kilometers east of Tlacolula at a depth of 74 kilometers.
• Strong shaking was felt in Oaxaca, with lighter tremors reported in Chiapas, Morelos, Mexico City, Puebla and Veracruz.
• The CDMX seismic alert did not activate because early energy estimates did not exceed preset SASMEX thresholds.
• Emergency protocols were triggered, inspections found no major damage, one person was injured by falling debris and no tsunami risk was identified.
