56th Annual Light Up Louisville Returns Saturday With Tree Lighting, Parade and Light Show

City organizers moved the tradition to the first Saturday in December to give workers and families uninterrupted Thanksgiving time.

Overview

  • Light Up Louisville is set for Saturday, Dec. 6, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Jefferson Square Park at Sixth and West Jefferson.
  • The schedule lists the Lots of Lights parade at 6 p.m., a video mapping show at 7:50 p.m., Santa’s arrival at 8 p.m., and the tree lighting at 8:15 p.m.
  • City advisories detail downtown street closures and no‑parking zones around the event area, with some restrictions already in effect.
  • Admission is free, featuring the Mistletoe Market, two stages of live entertainment, kids’ activities, free photos with Santa, and Jolly Jingle Express train rides.
  • This year’s tree is a 40‑foot Norway spruce donated by the Louisville Airport Authority from a family on Silver Oaks Court, and Louisville Parks will decorate it.
