500,000 Signatures Fuel Legal Challenge to March Justice Referendum
The citizen committee that reached the quorum now has promoter status, with a hearing on the timetable set before the Lazio administrative court on 27 January.
Overview
- President Sergio Mattarella has signed the decree calling the constitutional referendum for 22–23 March on the Nordio justice reform.
- Fifteen jurists led by Carlo Guglielmi say they have met the constitutional quorum and have filed to suspend the government’s date before the TAR Lazio.
- Opposition parties PD, M5S and AVS requested an urgent briefing from Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to press for a postponement after the quorum was reached.
- Meeting the threshold enables the committee to deposit signatures at the Cassazione, gain formal promoter status, and access reimbursements and media parity.
- Promoters are preparing possible further actions over the ballot wording and a conflict of attribution to the Constitutional Court, as a report of a TAR rejection is disputed.
