A 5-foot-long boa constrictor was discovered in a kitchen sink in an Upper West Side apartment.
The snake was first seen crawling up an exterior gate and entering the basement unit.
NYPD's Emergency Service Unit captured the snake and handed it over to the Animal Care Centers of NYC.
Boa constrictors are illegal to own in New York City, and the snake was placed with a foster guardian outside the city.
