5-Alarm Bronx Fire Damages Seven Businesses, One Injured

Firefighters and EMS workers battle blaze believed to have originated in deli's kitchen

  • A 5-alarm fire broke out at Bunny’s Deli Cold Cut City in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx just before 3:30 am, causing damage to seven businesses in the area.
  • 200 firefighters and EMS workers responded to the emergency, battling the blaze from the street level and from tower ladders.
  • One person suffered a minor injury requiring medical attention, believed to be a resident of an apartment in the back of the deli who was treated for smoke inhalation.
  • The fire is believed to have originated in the kitchen at the back of the deli, but the FDNY has not confirmed the cause of the fire.
  • Affected businesses include a meat store, seafood market, pizzeria, flower shop, cleaning company, barbershop and a tax preparation business.
