Overview

  • The 49ers added free agent Quintez Cephus on July 24 after wide receiver Jacob Cowing suffered a hamstring strain in training camp practice.
  • Cephus earned the contract after participating in a camp tryout that featured six receivers, including Equanimeous St. Brown and Brandon Powell.
  • The 27-year-old was reinstated by the NFL in April 2024 following an indefinite suspension in 2023 for violating the league’s gambling policy.
  • Since reinstatement, he has had brief stints with the Bills, Texans and Rams, with Los Angeles releasing him in June.
  • As a rookie for Detroit in 2020, Cephus recorded 20 catches for 349 yards and two touchdowns and now seeks to recapture that early form in San Francisco.
