4,500 Join Collective Lawsuit Over DAZN Price Hikes in Germany

Plaintiffs seek to void 2021–22 increases, potentially enabling refunds for those who register.

Overview

  • Germany’s consumer federation VZBV says about 4,500 people have enrolled in the collective action challenging DAZN’s subscription increases.
  • The first oral hearing is scheduled for 4 September 2026 at the Oberlandesgericht Hamm (case I-12 VKl 1/24).
  • Consumers and small businesses can still sign up via the federal Verbandsklageregister at least until 25 September 2026.
  • The lawsuit alleges DAZN raised prices in ongoing contracts without consent, including a jump from €14.99 to €29.99 in summer 2022, using intransparent clauses.
  • DAZN rejects the claim of arbitrariness, citing major rights acquisitions, while a prior OLG Munich ruling found parts of its terms unlawful.
