Overview

  • An inflatable boat that left Zuwara on November 3 reportedly suffered engine failure in high waves a few hours into the journey and capsized.
  • Libyan authorities rescued seven men near the Al Buri oilfield after six days adrift, and the IOM provided medical care before they were taken to Tripoli.
  • The vessel was carrying 49 people, including 47 men and two women, with the missing reported to include 29 Sudanese, eight Somalis, three Cameroonians and two Nigerians.
  • IOM’s Missing Migrants Project reports more than 1,000 deaths on the central Mediterranean route in 2025 and at least 25,673 since 2014.
