Overview
- Bengaluru police reported arresting 41 protesters who entered a hotel venue during a Hindi promotion meeting and produced them before the 1st ACJM Court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
- The meeting was organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Rajbhasha Samiti as part of a three-day session from September 23 to 25 at a five-star hotel on Race Course Road and was attended by six Members of Parliament.
- On the final day between about 10:45 and 11:00 am, roughly 30 to 40 individuals allegedly entered without permission, obstructed officials, and caused a temporary disruption before police restored order.
- According to sources, the protesters were from Karnataka Rakshana Vedike led by Narayan Gowda and they alleged the event aimed to impose Hindi on non-Hindi-speaking states.
- Police said a case was registered at High Grounds police station, additional personnel were deployed to prevent escalation, and the meeting concluded as planned.
