40 Women Join Third Cohort of Syngene’s Women in STEM Empowerment Program

By combining scholarships, mentorship plus hands-on training, the programme aims to break financial, institutional barriers for women from underserved colleges.

Overview

  • Participants were chosen through a rigorous evaluation of academic merit, research orientation and socio-economic background to support those from low-income families.
  • The programme provides financial assistance alongside personalized mentorship and laboratory training at Syngene and partner facilities.
  • Each scholar will complete project-based internships with leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies as well as the CSIR–CCMB.
  • Since its 2022 inception, more than 50 women have benefited from earlier cohorts, with many advancing to PhD programmes or securing full-time research roles.
  • The Hyderabad launch brought together leaders from Syngene, RICH and the Biocon Foundation along with Dr. Parvinder Maini and Dr. Shailja Donempudi to underscore the public-private collaboration.
