4 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured as BMW Crosses I-15 Median in Temecula

CHP says alcohol does not appear to be a factor, with charges for the surviving BMW driver pending.

Overview

  • CHP reports a northbound BMW M4 veered over the concrete divider into southbound lanes near Winchester Road around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
  • The Nissan Sentra struck the BMW’s right side, and the BMW caught fire and became fully engulfed.
  • The BMW’s 23-year-old front passenger and two juveniles, 14 and 15, died at the scene, and the 35-year-old Nissan driver was pronounced dead en route to a hospital.
  • Good Samaritans pulled the 25-year-old BMW driver from the burning car; he and the Nissan’s 22-year-old passenger were hospitalized with major injuries at Inland Valley Medical Center.
  • All four people in the BMW were from Moreno Valley and the Nissan occupants were from Wildomar, as investigators seek witnesses at the CHP Temecula Area office at 951-466-4300.
