375-Pound Loggerhead Sea Turtle Released After Rehabilitation in Florida

Bubba, a great-grandfather sea turtle, returned to the ocean following extensive treatment for injuries and anemia.

Bubba was found injured with mangled flippers and marine leeches in April by biologists in St. Lucie County.
The 375-pound loggerhead turtle underwent three months of rehabilitation at Brevard Zoo’s Sea Turtle Healing Center.
Treatment included antibiotics, wound cleanings, cold laser therapy, and nutrition to address his injuries and anemia.
Bubba's release was witnessed by a large crowd at Cocoa Beach, marking one of the zoo's best-attended events.
The Brevard Zoo emphasizes the importance of releasing rehabilitated sea turtles, especially during nesting season.
