Overview

  • On July 13 a 35-year-old Gifhorn resident stole two vodka bottles from a gas station and was identified by a detailed witness description.
  • Patrol officers apprehended him at about 2:30 p.m. near a bank branch and he admitted the theft although the bottles remained unrecovered.
  • A breathalyzer test measured his BAC at 3.61 ‰, a level the Federal Institute for Public Health warns can cause severe poisoning.
  • Officers said the suspect’s intense intoxication likely accounted for the missing vodka bottles.
  • An outstanding Hildesheim prosecutor’s warrant over an unpaid fraud fine led to his transfer to the Sehnde correctional facility.
