360 Chicago to Transform Former Signature Room into Three-Story Observation Deck

The project will carve out a three-story atrium spanning 94th to 96th floors with a bespoke staircase in a multimillion-dollar overhaul of the tower

Overview

  • 360 Chicago, which acquired the vacant 95th and 96th floors in 2024, announced plans to transform them into Chicago’s first three-story observation deck
  • Skidmore, Owings & Merrill’s design will remove a portion of the 95th floor to create a continuous atrium connected by a custom grand staircase
  • The 96th floor will be reimagined as a private event venue offering panoramic city views for weddings, corporate gatherings and social celebrations
  • Magnicity is funding the tens-of-millions-dollar project in partnership with WB Immersive and expects to complete construction within 18 to 24 months
  • The renovation will also modernize the building’s mechanical systems and replace its glazing to improve energy efficiency and visitor comfort
