Overview

• The incident occurred just after 1 p.m. Monday on IL-56 between Hankes Road and Golf View Road when a distressed passenger leapt from the front seat of a moving car
• The driver stopped and attempted to keep the man on the shoulder before he ran into oncoming traffic
• A pickup truck struck the 35-year-old, and emergency crews from the Sugar Grove Fire Protection Department pronounced him dead at the scene
• All lanes were closed for about an hour for CPR attempts and accident reconstruction before reopening
• The victim’s identity remains unreleased as the Sugar Grove Police Department and Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team continue their investigation
