3,473 Drones Form Giant Peacock Over Mysuru and Set Guinness World Record

The night display signaled a push to blend modern drone technology with Dasara’s traditional pageantry to boost Mysuru’s tourism profile.

Overview

  • A synchronized drone show above the Torchlight Parade Ground in Bannimantap used 3,473 drones to form a dancing peacock on October 18, a formation reported to have earned a Guinness World Record.
  • The spectacle was organised by the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) and executed by BotLab Dynamics, an IIT Delhi‑incubated company that posted celebration footage online.
  • The aerial program included 12 visual formations such as a peacock, butterfly, lion, the Chakra and Lord Krishna, and video clips of the displays were shared by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.
  • State leaders and the public gave widespread praise for the show, and CESC also ran city illuminations linked to Dasara that will remain on view until October 31 for residents and visitors.
  • The event builds on Dasara’s long festival history and on last year’s drone tiger display, and it could increase tourist interest in Mysuru while encouraging more large‑scale use of drones for cultural events.
