33 Maoists Surrender Across Chhattisgarh Under Rehab Push

  • Narayanpur police reported eight surrenders on Wednesday carrying cumulative rewards of Rs 30 lakh, led by Sukhlal Jurri and Hurra alias Himanshu Midiyam with Rs 8 lakh each, and said 148 have surrendered in the district this year.
  • Authorities cited ideological disillusionment, factional strains and tough forest living as drivers of defections, while campaigns Puna Margam and Lon Varratu continue to draw participants, with the latter credited with 1,042 surrenders including 267 reward-listed.
