About 300 Indian citizens, including children and families, have been detained at a French airport for three days amid a human trafficking investigation.
Two passengers have been arrested as part of the investigation into suspected human trafficking by an organized criminal group.
The passengers were on a Legend Airlines charter flight from the United Arab Emirates to Nicaragua when the plane was grounded during a refueling stop in France.
Indian consular representatives are working with the French government for the welfare of the detained Indians and for an early resolution of the situation.
The U.S. has seen a surge in Indians crossing the Mexico-U.S. border this year, with Indian citizens arrested 41,770 times entering the U.S. illegally from Mexico in the U.S. government's budget year that ended Sept. 30.
