3 San Diego Firefighters Seriously Injured in Texas Crash En Route to Hurricane Relief

The firefighters were heading to North Carolina to assist with Hurricane Helene relief efforts when their vehicle collided with a civilian car.

The crash occurred early Sunday morning on East Highway 20 near the Texas-Louisiana border.
The injured firefighters, a battalion chief and two captains, were airlifted to a hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Their conditions range from moderate to critical, with their identities yet to be released.
The team was part of Urban Search & Rescue California Task Force 8, consisting of 48 members from multiple agencies.
San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria and Fire Chief Robert Logan expressed full support for the injured firefighters, prioritizing their recovery.
