Overview
- Deputies responded to a tip around 10:45 a.m. Monday at a residence on the 8100 block of Lee Road 146 in the Beauregard community.
- About 29 dogs were discovered dead in plastic bags piled in the backyard, ranging from puppies to adult dogs.
- Roughly two dozen additional dogs were found alive inside the home in emaciated condition.
- Lee County Animal Control took custody of the surviving animals for care and further evaluation.
- Three residents of the home were arrested and booked into the Lee County Jail, and authorities report that no formal charges had been filed yet.
