28 Maoists Including 19 Women Surrender in Narayanpur, 22 With Rs 89 Lakh Bounty

Police credit the Poona Margem rehabilitation drive, along with village schemes, for a Bastar trend of 500-plus surrenders in 50 days.

Overview

  • The group, including 19 women and members from PLGA Company No. 6 and area committees, surrendered in Narayanpur under the Poona Margem programme.
  • Police said 22 of the 28 were reward-listed with a combined Rs 89 lakh bounty, including four operatives carrying Rs 8 lakh each.
  • Three cadres handed over weapons: one SLR, one INSAS rifle and one .303 rifle.
  • Officials report more than 512 surrenders across the Bastar range in the past 50 days, taking Narayanpur’s 2025 total to 287 and roughly 2,200 statewide over 23 months.
  • Authorities said the decision was influenced by the Niyad Nellanar village-development scheme, and reintegration support in education, skills and employment is being arranged after an event attended by district and paramilitary leaders.
