27 Hospitalized in Penn-North Overdose Incident, No Fatalities Reported

Investigators are treating the Penn-North site as an active crime scene to trace a suspected tainted batch after the mass overdose overwhelmed emergency services.

Overview

  • Of the 27 people hospitalized following the July 10 overdoses, seven remain in critical condition, 15 are in serious condition and the rest are stable.
  • Fire Chief James Wallace labeled the event a “level-one mass casualty” and deployed 13 medic units, four fire suppression teams and the community paramedicine unit to the scene.
