Overview
- Bar Harbor Police reported around 5 p.m. Wednesday that a person was believed stranded on Bar Island.
- NPS rangers, the U.S. Coast Guard, Maine Warden Service, Maine Marine Patrol and the Maine Association of Search and Rescue responded but did not locate the individual.
- Teams conducted an overnight search with K-9 units before suspending operations.
- Search efforts resumed Thursday morning with NPS, Maine Marine Patrol, Maine State Police and Maine Warden Service, when the 25-year-old's body was recovered near the island.
- The National Park Service is leading the death investigation, and the man's name has not been released.
