24-Year-Old Charged With Carrick-on-Suir Murder Is Remanded After Special Clonmel Sitting

A further appearance is set for Tuesday following the initial remand in custody.

Overview

  • Karolina Kovacova, 24, was charged at a special sitting of Clonmel District Court with the murder of 47-year-old Pavel Javorski at an apartment on O'Callaghan's Lane in Carrick-on-Suir on Saturday.
  • Gardaí and emergency services found Mr Javorski unresponsive on Saturday night, and he was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
  • A post-mortem examination is understood to have confirmed that Mr Javorski died violently.
  • Detective Garda Ruairí Ryan told the court Ms Kovacova made no reply to the charge, and Judge John O'Leary remanded her in custody with a recommendation for assistance due to her limited English.
  • Ms Kovacova has an address at the O'Callaghan's Lane apartment and is from the Czech Republic, as was Mr Javorski, who had lived in Ireland for two decades.
