24-Year-Old Arrested on Suspicion of Rape After Reported Bournemouth Attack Near Maxwell Road

Detectives are seeking witnesses, with specialist officers supporting the victim.

  • Dorset Police said they received a report at about 9.18pm on 5 November that a woman in her 30s was raped in a wooded area near Maxwell Road in Bournemouth.
  • Following enquiries, a 24-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in police custody.
  • Police say the woman had met someone she knew in Charminster before an unknown man approached her, after which they walked together to Maxwell Road.
  • The Major Crime Investigation Team, led by Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins, continues to investigate and is keeping the victim updated.
