Overview

  • HMS Venturer, the first of the Royal Navy’s Type 31 Inspiration-class frigates, received its foremast at Babcock’s Rosyth yard.
  • The 24 metric tonne structure, described as the weight of 10 full-size Range Rovers, was moved from the Venturer Building to the dockside before being lifted into place.
  • Babcock coordinated specialist engineering and lifting teams to complete the installation and integration.
  • Babcock Arrowhead Managing Director Paul Watson called the step an important milestone for a ship intended to bolster the Royal Navy’s capabilities.
  • The Type 31 programme continues to advance alongside Type 26 builds, with three new frigates now in the water and eight at the steel-cut stage.
