23-year-old Josh Taylor died after falling into a large hole on a beach on Bribie Island, Queensland, which had been dug to roast a pig.
Taylor was buried alive when the walls of the hole collapsed on him. Despite rescue efforts, he was unconscious by the time he was extricated.
He was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in a critical condition and died five days later from his injuries.
Queensland Police are investigating the incident and have appealed for witnesses or anyone with footage to come forward.
