23-Year-Old Arrested in San Jose VTA Station Beating on Attempted-Murder Charge

Detectives are examining a potential link to a second late-September assault at another VTA station.

Overview

  • Deputies responded shortly before midnight Monday to reports of an unresponsive man at the Gish VTA Light Rail Station in San Jose.
  • They found a 42-year-old with severe head injuries who was hospitalized in critical condition.
  • Investigators identified Brandon Fryshaw, 23, within hours and took him into custody.
  • He was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
  • The Sheriff’s Office says Fryshaw may also be tied to an assault on an unhoused person at the Saint James station, and it is seeking tips from witnesses.
