- 21-year-old Weston Soule was arrested for running a clandestine magic mushroom operation estimated to be worth $8.5 million from his home in Burlington, Connecticut.
- After a tip-off to the Drug Enforcement Administration Hartford Task Force, authorities discovered that Soule's home was equipped with ventilation equipment typical of drug factories. Soule initially denied that the grown mushrooms were illegal.
- Police returned with a search warrant and found psychedelic mushrooms in various stages of growth that Soule eventually conceded were psilocybin, a Schedule 1 controlled substance.
- Photos provided by the Connecticut State Police show hundreds of bags of psychedelic mushrooms lined up on the front yard of Soule's residence.
- Soule was charged with possession with intent to sell/distribute narcotics and operation of a drug factory. He posted a $250,000 bail and is expected to appear in state court on November 16.
