2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger Electric Truck Unveiled with Gas-Powered Range Extender and 690 Mile Range

Stellantis' Ram brand introduces the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger featuring a unique setup with an electric battery and motors, supplemented by a gas-powered generator. The model aims to alleviate EV range anxiety by offering an electric truck with extended range capacity for long trips with minimal charging stops.

  • Stellantis' Ram brand has unveiled the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger, an electric truck with a unique setup that includes a gas-powered generator. This setup is designed to alleviate range anxiety by providing extended electric range for long trips with minimal charging stops.
  • The new truck uses electric motors fed by a 92 kilowatt-hour battery. When the battery is depleted, the gas engine starts up to produce electricity and keep the motors running. The total range of the vehicle is approximately 690 miles, far outpacing some all-electric rivals.
  • The Ramcharger is also equipped with a 130 kW onboard generator, powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 engine, that works in tandem with the battery. According to Ram, this allows the vehicle to travel up to 145 miles on electricity alone, and the gas engine can extend this range significantly.
  • While it's an electric vehicle in function, the Ramcharger doesn't compromise on performance. It has 663 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque, can reach 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds, and has a tow limit of 14,000 pounds. It also offers bidirectional charging, which means it can charge another stranded EV or even power an owner's house.
  • The Ramcharger design features an aerodynamic exterior and luxurious interior, including a modern infotainment system, numerous USB ports, optional massaging seats, and plenty of leg room. Additionally, it comes with other advanced features such as hands-free highway assist and autonomous parallel and perpendicular parking assist.
