2024 Songwriters Hall of Fame Nominees Announced
Tracy Chapman, Public Enemy, R.E.M., and Others Among the Nominees for the Prestigious Award
- Tracy Chapman, Public Enemy, R.E.M., George Clinton, Steely Dan, Bryan Adams, Blondie, Heart, The Doobie Brothers, Kenny Loggins, Hillary Lindsey, and Timbaland are among the nominees for the 2024 Songwriters Hall of Fame.
- A songwriter qualifies for induction 20 years after the first significant commercial release of a song.
- Eligible voting members have until midnight EST on December 27, 2023 to turn in ballots, with their choices of three nominees from a songwriter and three from performing songwriter categories.
- Several of the nominees have previously been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, including members of Parliament/Funkadelic, Steely Dan, Blondie, R.E.M., Heart, Public Enemy, and The Doobie Brothers.
- Several of the nominees were also nominated last year but did not make the final cut, including Bryan Adams, R.E.M., Blondie, The Doobie Brothers, and Heart.
