2023 Corruption Perceptions Index Released: Denmark Tops, Somalia Ranked Most Corrupt
India Drops in Ranking, UK Falls to Lowest-Ever Position, Australia and US Remain Steady
- Transparency International's 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) has been released, ranking 180 countries and territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption.
- Denmark topped the index for the sixth consecutive year, followed by Finland and New Zealand. Singapore was the only Asian country in the top 10, ranking fifth.
- Somalia, Venezuela, Syria, South Sudan, and Yemen were ranked as the most corrupt countries.
- India ranked 93, a drop from its previous position at 85, while the UK fell to its lowest-ever position at 20th.
- Australia maintained its position at 14th, while the US remained unchanged at 24th.
