Mindy Clevidence, a 17-year-old girl found dead in Highland Park, Michigan, in 1996, has been identified.
The identification was made possible through DNA testing and forensic genetic genealogy.
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children collaborated with police and prosecutors in the identification process.
The remains were exhumed in 2015 for forensic testing through DNA, but no matches were found until this year.
Highland Park Police Chief James McMahon believes someone has information that could lead to the arrest of the killer.
