Ross Miller's barbecue plans were interrupted by the discovery of a wartime relic, which was safely deactivated and is now being creatively reused.

  • Ross Miller discovered a 1940s 25-pounder bomb casing in his garden in Putley, Herefordshire, while preparing for a barbecue.
  • The discovery prompted a police response, with a 100-metre cordon set up to ensure public safety until the bomb casing was inspected.
  • An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit confirmed the casing posed no explosive threat, deactivating and returning it to Mr. Miller as a souvenir.
  • The bomb casing, originally mistaken for a water system component, is now being repurposed by Mr. Miller as a beer cooler for future gatherings.
