1,930 Pounds of Olympia Provisions Holiday Kielbasa Recalled for Possible Metal Contamination

Inspectors labeled the case high risk following a consumer report of metal.

Overview

  • The issue was identified after Olympia Provisions alerted federal regulators to a complaint that metal was found in a ready-to-eat sausage.
  • The recalled item is a 16-ounce vacuum-sealed package of fully cooked “Olympia Provisions Uncured Holiday Kielbasa” marked EST. 39928 with a best-if-used-by date of 02/19/26.
  • The sausages were produced on Oct. 14 and distributed to retailers in California, Oregon and Washington, with additional nationwide sales through the company’s website.
  • FSIS announced the action on Dec. 18 and classified it as a Class I recall, indicating a reasonable probability of serious health consequences if the product is consumed.
  • No injuries have been confirmed; consumers should not eat the sausage, should discard it or return it, and may contact owner Michelle Cairo with questions, with officials noting many may still have the product in home freezers.
