Overview
- The San Francisco Police Department arrested 19-year-old Lester Bamacajeronimo on June 17 after witnessing him spray painting the installation and pursued him on foot along Christmas Tree Point Road.
- Black zigzag lines roughly 14 inches wide defaced 26 of the Pink Triangle’s 175 tarps, depositing paint across nearly an acre of the installation.
- The installation, which commemorates LGBTQ+ victims of the Holocaust, remains on display through the end of June marking its 30th year as a Pride Month landmark on Twin Peaks.
- Mayor Daniel Lurie and other officials denounced the vandalism as hateful, and police have seized tools used in the attack with charges against the suspect pending.
- Founder Patrick Carney plans to temporarily cover the graffiti with matching paint before replacing the damaged tarps later this month.
