18-Year-Old Faces Felony Charges for Firing Gun at Vehicle in Des Plaines

Prosecutors approved charges following Reynoso’s admission that he opened fire on a vehicle he claimed had been circling his block

  • The shooting occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on May 30 in the 1800 block of Ash Street when Freddie Reynoso allegedly exited a Ford F-150 and fired multiple rounds at a northbound car.
  • Reynoso fled on foot to a friend’s home on Pine Street and hid the Glock in a backpack before turning himself in to investigators later that evening.
  • Des Plaines police recovered six shell casings at the scene and retrieved the handgun with the homeowner’s permission.
  • Cook County prosecutors approved felony counts on May 31, charging him with aggravated discharge of a firearm and two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
  • Authorities say Reynoso did not possess a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification card or a concealed carry license at the time of the incident.
