Andrea Kimi Antonelli, an 18-year-old Italian driver, passed his road driving test, marking a milestone ahead of his first Formula 1 season with Mercedes.
Antonelli will replace seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who has moved to Ferrari, and partner with George Russell at Mercedes for the 2025 season.
The rookie has already secured his FIA Super License, which is required to compete in F1, after an impressive junior racing career and extensive F1 testing experience.
Mercedes announced Antonelli as their new driver during the 2024 Italian Grand Prix, where he made his F1 practice debut but crashed after a few laps.
The 2025 Formula 1 season begins on March 16 in Australia, with Antonelli set to participate in preseason testing in Bahrain starting February 26.
