18-Month-Old Dies in Newark Pit Bull Attack

The toddler was under the care of a teenager when she was fatally mauled by one of the family's dogs.

The incident occurred at a home on Second Avenue in Newark, New Jersey.
Authorities are investigating whether more than one dog was involved in the attack.
The child was transported to University Hospital but was pronounced dead later that evening.
Both dogs have been removed from the home and placed in quarantine by Animal Control.
An autopsy will determine the official cause and manner of death.
