18 Monkeys Still Missing After Escape From South Carolina Research Facility

The monkeys broke free from Alpha Genesis after a door was left unsecured, with recovery efforts ongoing.

A total of 43 rhesus macaques escaped from the Alpha Genesis research facility in Yemassee, South Carolina, last Wednesday due to human error.
As of now, 25 monkeys have been safely recaptured, leaving 18 still at large in the surrounding area.
The escaped monkeys are all young females, weighing around 3 kg, and pose no risk to public health as they have never been used for testing.
Authorities have advised local residents to secure their homes and avoid approaching the monkeys, urging them to report sightings to the police.
Alpha Genesis and local police continue to use traps and thermal imaging to locate and safely capture the remaining monkeys.
