17-Year-Old Killed in Aurora Police Shootout, SIU Investigating

The Ontario police watchdog is probing the fatal encounter following a break-and-enter report.

The incident occurred near St. John’s Sideroad and Bayview Avenue in Aurora around 7:50 p.m.
York Regional Police officers responded to a break-and-enter call and were confronted by the suspect.
An exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in the 17-year-old suspect being shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene.
One police officer sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Special Investigations Unit has assigned investigators to the case and is seeking public assistance for further information.
