Overview

• Victim Darrell Harris, a Longwood resident, was struck in the head and right arm around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday while playfully spraying water at other teens in Starlight Park in Crotona Park East.
• Witnesses described the shooter as a man wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants and a ski mask who fired two 9 mm rounds before escaping north on Sheridan Avenue.
• Paramedics took Harris to Jacobi Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, marking the latest youth homicide in New York City’s ongoing rise in teenage gun violence.
• No arrests have been made and detectives are combing nearby security cameras and park surveillance to identify the suspect.
