Overview

• Four juvenile occupants were ejected when the stolen Kia Soul rolled over near Old Lakeville Road No. 1, killing 14-year-old Aldo Rodriguez Cazarez at the scene.
• The 17-year-old driver, suspected of operating under the influence, remains hospitalized in stable condition and faces vehicular manslaughter, evading causing great bodily injury or death, and DUI causing great bodily injury or death charges.
• Two other teenage passengers, ages 15 and 16, were also ejected from the vehicle and are in stable condition after being taken to local trauma centers.
• Investigators determined the Kia Soul was recently stolen from Marin County and are probing the theft’s connection to the fatal pursuit.
• Petaluma, Santa Rosa and California Highway Patrol officers have activated a critical-incident protocol to review pursuit procedures under a multi-agency investigation.
