17 Students Hospitalized After Consuming Unknown Substance at LA Middle School

The Los Angeles School Police Department is investigating the incident as students recover from non-life-threatening symptoms.

Seventeen students from Walter Reed Middle School were evaluated for possible overdoses on Thursday morning.
Two students were transported to hospitals, while the others were released to their parents or back to school.
The Los Angeles Unified School District confirmed the students consumed a banned substance.
Officials have not yet identified the substance involved in the incident.
A similar incident occurred last week at Nobel Charter Middle School involving cannabis-laced edibles.
