160th Juneteenth Celebrations Span Philadelphia, Houston and Galveston

From Philadelphia to Galveston communities coordinate parades, festivals, educational events, cultural performances to honor emancipation

  • Galveston’s June 19 Menard Park celebration features a fireworks display, official recognitions by Council member Sharon Lewis and a parade at Wright Cuney Park
  • Educational programming at Houston Community College, Emancipation Park Conservancy and Children’s Museum Houston offers workshops, historical reenactments and storytelling sessions
  • Most events are free and open to the public with select ticketed concerts and fundraisers supporting community organizations and local Black-owned enterprises
