16-Year-Old Ordered Held in Triply Aggravated Homicide of Jeremías Monzón in Santa Fe

Prosecutors say the case remains active under juvenile rules with a third participant still being sought.

Overview

  • Judge Sergio Carraro ordered preventive detention for M.B.A., 16, after she was imputed as co-author of a homicide qualified by premeditated collaboration, alevosía and ensañamiento.
  • A 14-year-old identified as L.R.P. was also imputed, though his age makes him legally not punishable under juvenile law.
  • The closed-door hearings were held in Santa Fe, and the detained teen will be housed in a Specialized Center for Minors with public defender Andrea Alberto appointed.
  • Prosecutor Francisco Cecchini said three people participated in the killing, with a third suspect not yet definitively identified and believed to be a minor.
  • Investigators describe the probe as in its early stages, say motives have not been determined, and credit homicide and femicide brigades with key investigative work.
