Overview
- The Association of Healthcare Providers–India advised roughly 15,000–15,200 member hospitals, including Max Healthcare and Medanta, to suspend cashless treatment for Bajaj Allianz policyholders starting Sept. 1.
- Hospitals will continue treating affected customers on a self-pay basis, with patients paying upfront and later seeking reimbursement from the insurer.
- AHPI cites outdated reimbursement tariffs against 7–8% annual medical inflation along with unilateral deductions, delayed settlements and slow approvals for pre-authorisation and discharge.
- AHPI leaders say a meeting with Bajaj Allianz is likely on Thursday and the advisory could be withdrawn if a satisfactory agreement on rates is reached.
- Bajaj Allianz said it was surprised by the move and expressed confidence in resolving the issues, while AHPI also issued a notice to Care Health Insurance seeking a response by Aug. 28.
